Review of the year

Well, my plan to post a picture for every day of Advent failed miserably after an attack of the lurgy. Anyway here's our now traditional Review of the Year.

Glebe Fest

A little sketch at a 'friends and family' music festival this weekend...music stands, speakers and big gazebo/shelter in front of a Cotswold stone farmhouse. A very civilised afternoon....

...a fine place for a cup of coffee...

Sunday morning spent watching little planes taking off, landing and a looping-the-looping...and sketching the control tower.

pages from my note book

.....and another tractor...

Possibly getting a little obsessed with tractors, but this one is another of my brothers Massey Ferguson's. I'm enjoying sketching these.

..and another tractor (MF 165)

.....sorry, but another tractor sketch.  This is my brothers Massey Ferguson 165 from the mid 1960's.

Tractors

I recently drove a tractor for the first time.....which is rather surprising as I grew up surrounded by them. However here are a couple of doodles to record this momentous- and highly enjoyable - event.

Sidmouth

A few days at the seaside is always a source of inspiration. A break from the daily routine and the time to just to watch the world go by usually spurs me on to pick up my pen and pad. This trip resulted in a couple a sketches and some quotes from a 1930's guidebook........

family portrait

At the weekend we went to Radnorshire, my home bit of Wales. My brother, Ed, handed me folder which contained a whole host of memories and stories of life in rural Wales that my dad had written. They are written just as he spoke and reading the little snippets of his life you can almost hear his voice. I was inspired to have a go at trying to capture something of him in one of my scribbly sketches. Its not quite right, but there is something of him staring out of the page, and the words taken from his notes encsulate his approach to life.

Happy New Year

First little scribble of 2014, a 'happy new year' greeting from the Taylors.....and a resolution for me to add a new drawing or blog comment at least once week
